ABOUT ME

As an ADHD person myself, I specialize in working with neurodiverse people (ASD, AuADHD, dyslexia, OCD, etc). I am certified in EMDR, trained in DBT and also use CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and polyvagal theory.  I believe in providing a supportive environment where we can explore thoughts and feelings - sometimes with humor. Everything is easier when it involves laughter. :-)

DBT and CBT are behavioral modalities that can help build skills for emotional regulation, executive functioning, communication, time management and more. The other modalities can help calm or change negative beliefs or thoughts that are holding you back. Sometimes talk therapy just isn’t enough. Building self acceptance and peace within yourself will allow you to move past shame and into growth.

My path to becoming an LPC counselor started by working with diverse communities as an elementary and high school counselor. Those experiences gave me the opportunity to work with people from a broad range of socio-economic classes, cultures, religions, countries, learning differences & traumatic experiences.

A bit more about me - I’ve taught on the Southside of San Antonio and in Al Ain, UAE. Studied in Florence, Italy and waited tables in the old city of Jerusalem (I’m half Jewish and hate Netanyahu).  My other half is Chicana (Mexican-American). My bachelors is in cultural anthropology providing an understanding of broader systemic and cultural impacts on mental health.
